Email
Network
We have set
this email network up to support the Development Workers Forum,
which meets every couple of months. As well as using this email
network to get news to you all about the forum – minutes,
details of the next meeting etc, it is intended to be much more,
to:
• post
discussions and debates on current development work issues
• share experiences and provide support to new Development
Workers
• share news of events, conferences and training
• raise awareness of development work within the High
Peak |
Subscribing and
unsubscribing from the network
To subscribe or unsubscribe
to the email network please email tony@highpeakcvs.org.uk
as the network administrator . If you are subscribed and
wish to unsubscribe, please don’t just click reply
to a message from the network, as it will go to everyone on the
list!
Posting a message to this network
We encourage messages
to be posted to this network – it is a way of getting information
to your peers easily, quickly and cost effectively. To post a message
to the network, you need to be subscribed to it (see above). Once
you are subscribed, send your message to hpdw@highpeakcvs.net
When you send a message it automatically goes to everybody who is
a member of the network. As this includes you, you'll receive your
own copy of the message as well which confirms that it has also
gone to everybody. If
your message doesn’t get there
If your message doesn't
go to everybody, this is usually because the message was sent from
an address that is not part of the email network. When you become
a member of the email network, you join with a specific email address.
If you later send a message from a different email address then
you are not recognised as being a member and the message is not
sent to everybody. It is possible to change or add email addresses
if required by emailing tony@highpeakcvs.org.uk
with details of your name and role
Occasionally a message does not go to everybody because it is sent
to the address of the network administrator instead of to the email
network itself. On rare occasions, a message might not be sent because
we have detected that it contains a virus.
Moderation
High Peak CVS does not
vet or prevent any messages being sent by people who are members
of the email network.
Viruses
We make strenuous efforts
to ensure that messages sent to email networks do not contain computer
viruses. The list of viruses that are intercepted is automatically
updated daily.
However, we cannot guarantee that every message is free from
viruses. Each subscriber is responsible for ensuring that their
own computer system remains virus free.
Network members are welcome to contact High Peak CVS if they would
like further information about computer viruses and how to prevent
being infected by them.
As part of the email network etiquette we ask members not
to send messages warning others of viruses.
Etiquette
The email networks are
used by people with a wide range of levels of experience. Some subscribers
have used email networks extensively for years, but for others it
is the first time. Being a member of an email network involves a
process of learning, sometimes from mistakes.
We would therefore ask more experienced subscribers to be patient
and to send a message to the network administrator if they think
there is an issue that needs addressing.
Please do not send messages that simply say "yes please",
"me too" or similar to the network. These can be sent
directly to the individual concerned rather than to all members
of the email network.
By default, a reply to a network message is sent back to all members
of the network, rather than to just the person who sent the original
message. If you do have a private comment, remove the network address
from the "To:" field of your reply and insert the person's
own individual email address.
We discourage the sending of large attachments to the email networks
as the message can take a long time for some members to download
because of the size. |
