Buxton
For Youth
The charity Buxton
for Youth is a partnership between the local community and
the county council,
providing a one-stop information and advice centre at 11 Market
Street for young people living in and around the town. Young
people can drop in for information, advice and counselling about
the issues that matter to them, from housing and homelessness
to bullying and family problems, family planning and drug and
alcohol abuse.
The information shop
also has close links with the Connexions
service, enabling young people to obtain advice and support
about jobs and training. The shop also has links with other
agencies, enabling young people to get information from local
solicitors, about welfare rights, social services, the youth
offending service and police.
The centre also provides
young people with free internet access, and builds on the existing
Buxton for Youth services at the Market Street premises, including
the cellar youth clubs, after school and weekend clubs and the
High Peak Young People's Health Project.
The information shop
is open throughout the week and Saturdays, and young people
are invited to drop in for information. People seeking more
detailed advice and guidance can make an appointment by ringing
01298 79643.
